Debbie Glassberg's Home Contained is stunningly designed, but it's notable not just for the careful placement of its couches or the elegant simplicity of its dining room (although both are true): Former toy accessory designer Debbie Glassberg created this 2,600-square-foot home using five shipping containers. The inspiration came after Glassberg attended the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, which wowed her with its sustainable and beautiful residential products (all made in China) — and with the shipping containers being manufactured nearby.
Nothing about the home looks industrial. Instead, it looks liveable and welcoming, combining the containers' metal walls, an intricately patterned ceiling, and a light and refreshing color palette. The result is playful and fun, a paradise for those who like their living spaces quirky and bright — like Etsy and Pinterest come to life.
